Sloan & Redlich Finally Agree: Sex Between Adults & Young Teenagers May Not Be Objectionable

Warren Redlich is the gubernatorial nominee of the Libertarian Party of New York in 2010. Sam Sloan came in second for the gubernatorial nomination at the LPNY State Convention held on April 24, 2010 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Albany, New York and is now challenging the legitimacy of the nomination process in two cases currently pending before the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of the State of New York. Despite this controversy, the two of them may agree when it comes to whether sex with underage teenagers is objectionable.

Sam Sloan recently wrote:

I am in favor of lowering the age of consent. One hundred years ago the average age of marriage was 16. The father of modern science, Antoine Lavoisier, married a 13-year-old girl who assisted him in his scientific research and carried on his works until her great old age. Statistics show that the birth rate for Americans has dropped well below the replacement rate of 2.1 children per woman, and that includes Black Americans who have a much higher birth rate than White Americans. If only White U.S. Born Americans are considered, we are headed for rapid extinction. Our population continues to increase only because of the constant influx of foreign born women who produce a high percentage, almost a majority, of the children. I am a good example. I have eight children born in the USA, but the mothers of all 8 of them were born in other countries. The Age of Consent and the Age of Legal Marriage needs to be lowered. If not, we are headed for extinction.

In an article Warren Redlich posted to his Stop Wasting Money Blog with the intention of "mocking" the shocked reaction people had to the "racy" Miley Cyrus photos, he wrote:

The story also hits on how Puritanism is still so prevalent in America. The greatest love interest in the history of romance is at least arguably Juliet from Romeo and Juliet. Juliet was 13 years old. For some reason females become fertile in their early teens and peak before the age of 18. You would think those who believe in the theory of evolution would see this as the design of the species. And in an interesting alliance with Darwin, shouldn't religious people (and not just those in cults) believe teenage girls should be sexually active (in marriage of course), as that would appear to be the intent of the intelligent design? Instead both groups appear to be together on the opposite side.

Another take is the notion that men who find teenage girls attractive are perverts. If you look at literature like Shakespeare, and at some historical figures like Sir William Johnson (a prominent pre-revolutionary leader in New York), you get the impression that it used to be normal for men, even much older men, to be interested in teenage girls.

Despite these comments, Warren Redlich recently said he does not support lowering the age of consent in New York State. For the full context of the quotations I used from Warren Redlich's blog, you can read the entire article yourself at: http://www.wredlich.com/stop-wasting-money/2008/04/best-miley-cyrus-quote.html

In a separate e-mail, Sam Sloan stated that while he supports lowering the age of consent, he refuses to be pinned down to a particular age at which he thinks the age of consent should be set. In that e-mail, he wrote:

I am in favor of lowering the Age of Consent. Saying that it should be lowered to 14 or to any other specific age is risky. Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg got into trouble for saying as a young law school student that the Age of Consent should be lowered to 13. She has never lived that down. Similarly, statements like that by Libertarian Party Candidate Mary Ruwart may have killed her candidacy for President of the United States.

The age of consent in New York State is currently set at 17.
